Kristin is the founder of the all-female DJ company Our DJ Rocks, and photo booth rental company, Photobooth Rocks, headquartered in Orlando, Florida. She leads a team of more than 35 employees who market, sell, and produce 800-900 events annually. Her journey into the world of DJing began when she asked a simple question, “Can chicks be DJs too?” The answer was YES and the learning began.
Kristin DJed her way through college and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations with a double minor in Marketing and Education from the University of Central Florida. When Kristin launched Our DJ Rocks in 2010, the goal was to bring her energy and passion for music to every event - weddings, corporate events, and parties of all types. Who knew she would be able to fuse her knowledge of hospitality with her love of DJing, along with degree in Advertising/Marketing/PR?!
In 2014, Kristin started expanding her DJ team and has more than quadrupled the Our DJ Rocks DJ roster to currently 10 DJs, in less than 5 years. She meticulously trains every DJ in the Our DJ Rocks “DJ University” Training Program, becoming the only all-female DJ multi-operation company in the southeast.
Kristin has grown two successful businesses with rock-solid foundations using a combination of creative marketing and branding, and building a company culture that people want to connect with.
She is well-known in the event industry as someone you 'have to know,' and continues to expand both businesses through constant recruiting and training, seamless operations, laser-focused sales management, and compassionate leadership.
My heart
Kristin is passionate about her community and giving back. She currently sits on the Ambassador Board for the Covenant House of Florida and is one of her charities of choice.
The Covenant House Florida serves runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth under 21 in Fort Lauderdale and 18-24 in Orlando, including teen parents and their babies.
Each year, they reach hundreds of kids in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando via street outreach, crisis shelters, transitional housing projects, and aftercare, making Covenant House Florida one of the largest private agencies serving runaway and homeless youth in the state of Florida.
COVENANT HOUSE PRINCIPLES
Immediacy: Kids come to us in crisis. Immediately and without question, we meet their basic human needs — a nourishing meal, a shower, clean clothes, medical attention, and a safe place away from the danger of the street.
Sanctuary: Our Fort Lauderdale and Orlando teen shelters are a sanctuary for children. The kids who come to us are often frightened and mistrustful. We protect them from the perils of the street. Youngsters can grow only when they feel safe and secure.
Value Communication: Lying, cheating, and stealing are common survival tools on the street. We teach kids by example that caring relationships are based on trust, respect, and honesty.
Structure: Kids on the street never know how they will get their next meal or where they will sleep. We provide a regular schedule that gives them the stability they need in order to focus on the future.
Choice: Young people often feel powerless to control their lives, and fall into a self-defeating cycle of failure. We encourage kids to believe in themselves and to make serious choices about their futures.
